Our Courses

The Lawrence Choral Academy offers age-specific courses to meet singers where they are, challenging them to grow musically and personally in their week with us. Our professional staff combine decades of varied experience to create a supportive, active, and stimulating environment for equal parts learning, connection, and fun.

Grade School

July 11-15, 2022
9-11:30 am daily

The Grade School portion of the Lawrence Choral Academy is focused on the joy of making music, getting to know new friends, and learning new songs that will become old favorites. This camp is perfect for anyone who loves music, regardless of singing background or previous musical experience; everyone is welcome!

Together we will learn music organically, often through games and call-and-response, with the brain and body being as engaged as the voice. We'll explore:

  • Group-building and name games

  • Alert and flexible singing posture

  • Pitch matching

  • Age-appropriate vocal technique

  • Basic solfege and music-reading skills

  • Musical games that teach musical concepts

  • Music from many cultures in a variety of languages

Come sing with us as we have fun making new friends, learning a wide variety of songs and games, and joining together in song.

This camp has a minimum enrollment of 10 singers and a maximum enrollment of 20 singers.

 

The cost is $175 per singer, and includes music for study and performance, a t-shirt, and healthy allergen-free snacks.

Middle School

July 11-15, 2022
9am - 12 pm daily

The Lawrence Choral Academy's Middle School camp offers a week of musical exploration, ensemble building, freedom of expression, and learning of concrete musical tools. This camp is designed for both experienced singers and those new to singing, as our focus will be on musical literacy, and exploring the developing voice in a safe and encouraging environment. 

Through creative warm-ups, physically engaged singing, musical games, and the exploration of choral repertoire students will learn and develop skills in:

  • Choral blend

  • Supported singing tone and individual vocal production

  • Healthy singing posture and professional carriage

  • Reading a choral score

  • Solfege (both note names and hand signs)

  • Choral performance practice

  • Basic music theory (key signatures, note names, intervals)

Join our experienced music educators for a week of singing, laughter, exploration, and skill-building in a fast-paced and inclusive environment.

This camp has a minimum enrollment of 10 singers and a maximum enrollment of 25 singers.

 

The cost is $200 per singer, and includes music for study and performance, a t-shirt, and healthy allergen-free snacks.

High School

July 11-15, 2022
1-4 pm daily

The Lawrence Choral Academy offers motivated high school singers a unique taste of collegiate and professional-level music making, teaching practical skills and fostering advanced musical independence in a stimulating, supportive, and rigorous environment.

Through daily singing, ensemble development, repertoire exploration and immersive instruction student will develop skills in:

  • Historically accurate performance practice

  • Ensemble singing, tonal flexibility, and choral balance

  • Sight reading

  • Music theory

  • Music history

  • IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet)

  • Collegiate audition techniques

  • Professional recording and digital presence

Additional offerings include professional recording for auditions and college applications, and individual voice instruction, conducting instruction, composition instruction, and piano instruction.

Work with professional singers, conductors, composers, and collaborative instrumentalists to develop and hone your musical passion. 

This camp has a minimum enrollment of 10 singers and a maximum enrollment of 25 singers.

 

The cost is $225 per singer, and includes all printed materials (information and resources relating to music theory, music history, IPA), music for study and performance, a t-shirt, and healthy allergen-free snacks.
